The silver ion dosing station is used to effectively sterilize the fresh water going to the ships holding
tank and thereby the water in the tanks.
Sterilization is achieved via silver ion solution that is injected into the fresh water storage and lasts for
30 days. The solution is colourless and odorless.
The dosing station is built to Lloyds MCA requirements and should be installed on the feed line that
goes to the fresh water holding tank for both the RO unit and any onshore supply.
This means that regardless of the source of the fresh water, only sterilized water will reach
the holding tank.
If there are multiple feeds to the holding tank or multiple tanks, one dosing station is required
per tank or feed.
This device consists of a volumetric dosing pump and a water meter with impulse launcher.
As the fluid passes the sensor on its way to the fresh water holding tank, the sensor detects the
flow and the flow rate.
The impulse sends a signal to the metering pump which then injects the correct volume of sterilizing
agent into the plumbing that then goes to the holding tank.
