Gineico Marine Quick Gyro Kekoa_Luke Fallon FAQ_1

WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE A QUICK GYRO?

According to Luke Fallon, Captain Kekoa Sports Fishing, during an interview with PG, Director Gineico Marine, (quote)

“We went with a Quick Gyro mainly because it was an aftermarket install and space was an issue!

Luckily enough the Quick Gyro fit right in the space that we had, so that was one big plus for us, in-between engines in ……

DOES ADAPTIVE PRECESSION MEAN BETTER PERFORMANCE?

According to Luke Fallon, Captain Kekoa Sports Fishing, during an interview with PG, Director Gineico Marine, (quote)

“Absolutely it does. There’s a tremendous amount of difference when it’s on vs when it’s off. Essentially, it’s killing the rock of the boat.

The Quick Gyro has adaptive performance that gives precession movement which constantly studies the movement of your boat and adjusts the precession angle and the response of the precession so that the boat is stabilized…….

DOES THE QUICK GYRO PERFORM WHEN UNDERWAY?

According to Luke Fallon, Captain Kekoa Sports Fishing, during an interview with PG, Director Gineico Marine, (quote)

“……  I pretty much turn it on before I leave the dock, particularly if it’s going to be a little bit rough, because it performs so well while the boat’s underway.
So this cruises between 25 to …..

IS THE QUICK GYRO STABILISER NOISY AT NIGHT?

According to Luke Fallon, Captain Kekoa Sports Fishing, during an interview with PG, Director Gineico Marine, (quote)

“Pretty much you can just turn the gyro on at the start of your trip and you turn it off at the end of the trip.

It looks after the changing conditions anyway, so if it’s calmer, it doesn’t work as hard as if it’s rough or it is compensating for that. But at night-time……

Gineico Marine - How Does A Gyro Stabilizer Work

HOW DOES A GYRO STABILISER WORK?

Quick Gyros use a vertically spinning flywheel design to stop the roll of the vessel.

In simple terms a Quick gyroscopic stabiliser works like the tyres on a bicycle or motorcycle. While the tyres on a bike are spinning, the bike stays upright. When the wheels on the bike stop spinning, the bike falls over.

Using the same simple physics, the round metal mass of the Quick gyroscopic stabilisers spins and the force it generates (anti-roll torque) is delivered to the structure of the vessel.

Angular Momentum V’s Anti-Roll Torque

What is the most accurate way to determine the performance of a gyroscopic stabiliser?

To understand the difference between ‘angular momentum’ and ‘anti-roll torque’ and what is the more accurate way to determine the performance of a gyroscopic stabiliser, we have an analogy to present.

Angular momentum is like the horsepower of the engine in your car. You can have a 500hp engine in your car but when you test the horsepower at the wheels or where the vehicle delivers the horsepower to the road, you realise you are only delivering 400hp.

Gineico Marine - What is the StartUp and ShutDown process for a Quick Gyro

What is the StartUp and ShutDown process for a Quick Gyro?

The Startup and Shutdown process for a Quick Gyro is fast and easy.

The Quick Gyro start up is no fuss and fast.
You do not need to check the cooling pumps are working or remove air from the feed lines after you have launched your trailer boat. You do not need to wait for the mass to achieve a certain RPM before you can leave the dock. You literally drop the boat in the water, drop the mooring lines and start the gyro while you are underway to your favourite spot.

Gineico Marine - Is the Quick Gyro Complex or Expensive to Service

Is the Quick Gyro Complex or Expensive to Service?

The Quick Gyro is not complex but is an incredibly smart patented system design that spins the mass vertically and has two bearings (one on each side of the mass) that work together and thereby share the weight and force of the mass.

This is unlike other gyros that have a  horizontal spinning design and there is only one bearing underneath doing all the work.

Gineico Marine - Can the Quick Gyro be Used On Any Sized Boat, at Any Speed or In Any Sea Conditions

Can the Quick Gyro be Used On Any Sized Boat, at Any Speed or In Any Sea Conditions?

Unlike any other gyroscopic stabiliser on the market, the Quick Gyro mass spins vertically. This unique feature means the bow of the vessel and the manoeuvrability of the vessel is never restricted by the spinning flywheel.

Put simply: just like your bicycle when you were a kid or your motorbike if you are a bigger kid now, the front of the bike can pop-up whenever you want. The spinning wheels keep you upright but they do not restrict the front of the bike. This is the same situation as with the Quick Gyro.

Gineico Marine - How quickly can I disengage the Quick Gyro

How quickly can I disengage the Quick Gyro?

You can disengage the Quick Gyro with the press of a button when the emergency standby mode is switched on or off, and the gyro responds instantaneously.

All Quick Gyro models (except for the X2 and X3 mini gyros) offer emergency stand-by. This means that even with the mass spinning at full speed, you can effectively neutralise the stabilization effect of the Gyro at the press of a button on the remote or on your electronics.
